“You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.”
If you don’t know what movie that quote is from, I am so sorry. You have never lived. That quote is from what could arguably be considered the best movie ever, The Princess Bride.
I love The Princess Bride because it exemplifies courage, wit, and the commitment necessary to chase down your dreams!
From mastering swordplay to scheming up a way to save your true love. This movie captures your heart through its remarkable humor and easy wit.
It is home to some of the greatest quotes known to man, such as.
“Life is pain Highness, anyone who says differently is selling something.”
“Unless I’m wrong, and I am never wrong!”
“Death cannot stop true love, what it can do is delay it for a while.”
“Surrender! You mean you wish to surrender to me, very well I accept.”
One of my personal favorites,
“You seem a decent fellow. I hate to kill you. You seem a decent fellow. I hate to die.”
From every scene, The Princess Bride follows the love story of a poor farm boy and a quiet country girl. They are living in the midst of what appears to be an uphill battle. Trouble grows around every bend.
The plot twists are bizarre, and the characters are peculiar. However, I find a little bit of myself in each of the main characters. I can balance life like Prince Humperdink, I can dream like Buttercup, I can devote myself to learning like Inigo Montoya, I can take what life hands me like Westley.
If you haven’t ever watched The Princess Brides, I recommend giving it an honest shot. If for no other reason, just watch until the battle of the wits, (you will know it when you see it.)
