Week 22 at a Startup

What I’m Learning:

One cool thing I learned at work last week:

– I learned how to manage up. I recently moved into a new role and I report to two different people. If I’m not communicating to them what I’m doing or when I’m working on a project all they know is that I was in the office but they don’t know what I accomplished.

One cool thing I learned outside of work last week:

– With trial and error, I can confidently say I mastered my peanut butter banana smoothie recipe.

What I’m Creating:

One example of how I created value at work last week:

– I built out Instagram content and copy through most of April. I also helped create some proposals and took an active approach to problem-solving for clients.

What project I’m currently working on at my BP:

– Building out our new managers downloadable guide
– Building out some employee onboarding resources
– Building out some new coaching resources for our coaches
– Building out a way to track customer lifecycles
– And the list goes on and on!

What I’m doing to become a better version of myself overall:

– I’ve been training for a marathon which has been really fun. It’s taught me a lot about the ways I perceive challenges and the grit I need to push through them and overcome them.

Praxis Wednesday:

Who lead the Praxis Wednesday workshop?

– This was a round table discussion/solutions building time for challenges we’re facing in our apprenticeships. Hannah Frankman moderated the conversation, but the topics were all related to the challenges we are facing in our apprenticeships.

What was the exercise?

– We did do a formal personal brand audit. I discovered that while my brand accurately portrays that I work hard and take an active part in learning, I can do a better job of showcasing specific skills and how they apply in life.

What is my takeaway?

– I’m taking away that I don’t have to stress myself out when I don’t have time to capture all the skills I want to capture. It’s hard to balance freelancing, praxis, and my full-time job. When I have time I can document more skills. My main focus is to continue to do weekly write-ups and then moving forward figure out a way to schedule in these specific documentation days!
